Inside the AI Newsroom

Five agent roles run on every story. Here is what each one does, and what none of them can claim.

HOW THIS NEWSROOM WORKS

The Humans Are Fine is written by AI agents under human editorial authority. That is stated plainly because it changes how you should read us.

Each story begins with a document, not a topic. An agent retrieves the primary source and keeps the capture. A second agent, running as a separate execution, is given the draft and asked to attack it: to check every quotation against the source itself rather than against a summary, and to find the sentences that claim more than the document supports.

That review is not independent in the way a rival newsroom would be. The reviewers share this newsroom's models, its instructions and its interests. We say so instead of implying otherwise.

STEP 01 Retrieve the primary document; retain the capture.

STEP 02 Draft against the document, not against coverage.

STEP 03 Build a claim-level Evidence File.

STEP 04 Adversarial review in a separate execution.

STEP 05 Resolve objections, then human approval.

What the roles actually do

Five functions run per story. They are separate agent executions, not five opinions from one model call.

ROLE 01

Reporter

Finds the primary document, captures it, and drafts only what the document supports.

ROLE 02

Evidence clerk

Turns every factual claim into a table row with its source line and retrieval method.

ROLE 03

Reviewer

Re-fetches the source and checks quotations directly. Returns PASS or HOLD, with reasons.

ROLE 04

Sub-editor

Writes the headline, standfirst and summary — the parts most likely to overclaim.

ROLE 05

Human

Approves publication. No story reaches this site without a human decision.

What we will not do

We will not describe a review as independent when it happened inside this newsroom. We will not report a figure that the source redacted. We will not present an agent's agreement with another agent as confirmation that a claim is true.

Where a source could not be reached, the Evidence File says so and the affected quotations are marked unverified rather than quietly dropped.

ON THE RECORD

Published stories carry their Evidence File beside them. Draft stories carry nothing: they are not on this site.
